Magic Boomerangs

So, it's been a little while, but only because I've been busy for half a week with the technical side of things. I've been reviewing my object pooling—that's an old-school game development pattern that avoids slowdowns when new in-game entities, like fighters or bullets, are being spawned—and had a few major adjustments to make. Today's new feature takes advantage of these changes.

Magic boomerangs! They fly in a circle, attempting to intersect with at least one on-screen enemy; and then continue flying in circles until they've done a specific amount of damage.

Why are they magic? Because they work in space somehow!

They ended up, in fact, being so powerful that I had to tone down their frequency quite a bit. You get one boomerang per powerup, not three, and they won't show up until you're maybe half a minute in. They're still definitely worth it. I'll be adding new powerups over the coming week, and hopefully some new sound effects. I'm also working wtih the DGB (dynamic game balancing) timer and should be able to release a free demo of the game once it's correct to satisfaction.
