Documentation: Roles & Playtesting
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Daniel - Rules Designer, Meeting Facilitator
- David - Artist, Notetaker
- Ziyue - Rules Editor, Artist
Playtesting/Feedback:
The first playtest left us with a lot of useful feedback:
- Rent must be paid every month. The losing player, knowing they’ll lose, can make everyone lose by using all the funds.
- There is too much to keep track of; way too much. Stats, actions, opponents’ stats/moves, time of the month, time of the semester, etc.
- The game is slow, and being remote doesn’t make things any more exciting. The game board could vary more in reward/punishment.
- Winning players (Higher stats) need to be kept in check by the losing players.
SUCCESSES
- Made a shared economy which, for the majority of the time, makes it so that the players work together instead of trying to beat out the others.
- Portraited the idea of communism and the college life on the board, making it colorful and something nice to look at.
- Delivered different scenarios that have a capability of happening in real life, or, more importantly, during the school year.
FAILURES
- Some of the requirements, such as the challenges or weekly actions may seem like too much, as they can be high numbers and losing could result in fast defeats.
- The rules, at times, to the players, seem a bit overwhelming due to its size.
- The numbers/stats need to be more well balanced as to make sure it's POSSIBLE to complete a lap around the board, while also keeping it challenging enough for people to keep playing.
