Version 1.3 now available, with small bug fixes and removed error messages.
Now (mostly) controller compatible, with the exception of shooting. Otherwise all menus and gameplay mechanics are controller capable.
A note on keyboard controls:
With the addition of the button focus to make menus controller-compatible, I was having an issue with pausing with keyboard input - by default Godot reserves the Enter key as an all-purpose UI selector.
Because of this I have mapped Pause to the Esc key, and you can then interact with it via mouse or Enter+Arrow Keys.
