Friday marked the first missed update in my bi-weekly update schedule. This was in large part to me taking a week-long break to play through Yakuza 0 for a few reasons:
Having been able to step back a bit and re-organize my thoughts, I've re-aligned myself towards a longer term goal beyond bi-weekly releases. My original exit criteria for pre-alpha was to be published on Steam, which does little to propel the game's development as it barely describes the final game.
Roshutsu is currently in pre-alpha because there is a lack of progression; you set some parameters and play out an exhibitionism/ENF fantasy. It's good for a proof-of-concept—which is what a pre-alpha is meant to be—but it lacks the substance a game requires. I want to set some goals to better reflect the alpha version of the final game. Therefore I am changing the exit criteria for exiting pre-alpha:
These goals are what I will be striving to develop in the next three months, with a target release in December. This update will be The Progression Update and will be the first release of Alpha 1.0.0. Roshutsu will continue to be available for free on itch.io, but a pick-your-price option will become available with the alpha release. If you would like to contribute towards development before then, please consider subscribing to my Patreon.
I do plan on continuing bi-weekly releases, as there is still a fair amount of functionality to implement beyond progression. You can view some of these planned features on my Trello board, which I will continue to keep updating as I work on features. If you'd like to get more involved with development, feel free to join my Discord server.
