It's been a long ride. After winning Best Overall Game at NYU's Global Game Jam 2017 last January, we never expected to spend almost a year continuing work on the game. However, we strove for perfection, iterating again and again. We focused on perfecting the level we had, rather than adding more content to a game that was designed around having one short replayable experience.
The truth is that perfection is impossible. No matter how much time you spend on a project, there's always something you could improve or rework. However, there comes a time you feel you've learned all there is to learn from a project.
Punks N' Patriots is, in my opinion, an incredibly fun game. As a game designer, I see room for improvement in any game I play and the final version of Punks N' Patriots is no exception, but I can say with certainty that there is nothing I would change about the final version. Perfection is boring, and the few rough edges and inconsistencies Punks N' Patriots are one of the things that make it unique and fill it with personality.
I hope you have as much fun playing our game as we did creating it.
