TLDR: The game is more forgiving now overall.
The game design process for this game has been largely attempting to tame chaos.
Making tiny changes to the numbers or functionality can have sweeping and chaotic effects you never intended.
I made a mistake with some balance changes I made after my final play test.
For some reason I had it in my head that this play tester got through the corridor midway through too easily and that I needed to make it just a little bit harder.
But after trying it many more times myself, I think its better if the player can luck out sometimes.
I also reverted some other changes that "would be more realistic" that had wild unintended consequences.
I attempted to make a smarter system for "remembering where the walls are".
This made it so in the corridor, it becomes extremely likely that Alice will go backwards brutally often.
