Devlog #7
Hey everybody. Some of you may have noticed that paid memberships are now live on the Patreon.
Why I waited
When I started working on this game I didn't want to turn on monetization right away. In my opinion I had to prove to myself and to everybody following the project that I can actually deliver steady updates at a good quality first.
The game came out almost half a year ago. I have had a great time working on it and the support so far has meant a lot. So now feels like the right moment.
I want to be open about how I set this up, because I believe that the moment money is involved a creator takes on a real responsibility to deliver.
How the tiers work
First and most important: the game will always be free. The tiers are an early access thing.
All paid tiers also get access to patron only votes, for example on which part of the story I work on next.
The Discord is free for everyone to join. Your tier just gets you a role and the patron channels.
The release schedule
If you have followed the project from the start you have probably noticed the rhythm. It is roughly one month, give or take a week, and I will guarantee a new update in that window unless something big comes up on my end like a holiday or an emergency.
Once a new update drops, the one from the month before becomes free for everyone.
What happens next
The update at the end of October is still free for everybody, same as always. So there is nothing to gain from subscribing right now in terms of access.
You are very welcome to subscribe already if you want to support the project, but please don't feel like you have to. Nobody misses out on anything this month.
Memberships actually kick in with the November release. That one goes out to patrons first and becomes free for everyone in December.
Thank you
Seriously, thank you. This project means a lot to me and I did not expect it to turn into what it is now. The kind words and the constructive feedback I have been getting have made a real difference, both for the game and for me personally.
Whether you subscribe or not, you being here is what keeps this going.
