Day One Patch!
Bendwire has been out for some hours. So here is the day one patch:
Scoring
- Streaks go further. The multiplier still climbs to ×3 in 8 walls, but now it keeps going: +0.1 per wall, up to ×5. Long clean runs finally pay off.
- Pierce is worth it now. The wall you punch through counts as solved instantly and cleanly, and it adds +2 to your streak.
Gameplay
- The endgame keeps getting harder. Around wall 35 the difficulty used to flatten out. Now walls keep getting a little faster, spin more often and get longer – slowly, and never impossible.
- More varied shapes. Walls vary in length, and some of them are now recognisable patterns: stairs, spirals, snakes and hooks.
- Every style now shows where "down" is. The circuit board had its gold contacts – now the workshop panel has a wooden batten and the minimal card a small bar, so spinning walls are easier to read in every style.
Feel
- A proper game over. When your last wire snaps, it explodes – no more frozen wire on the screen.
- Restart button in the pause menu.
- The wall on the title screen is now the wall you actually start with.
- The faint trace of your previous wire now fades out quickly (it looked too much like a slot).
- Menu buttons make sounds now.
Leaderboard
Because of the new streak and pierce rules, scores will be higher from now on. Old entries stay on the board – time to beat them!
Coming next
Boss walls. Every 20th wall will be something special – a short explanation comes first, so you know what you're facing.
Keep the feedback coming – it really shapes the game. Have fun bending!
