Here's the first working product of "Rocket Burst!"
The game began with experimenting with a fun core mechanic. I knew I wanted to fling a plane around by wildly tapping on a touch screen, so that's where the clicking/tapping started. Some of the finer details were inspired by one of my favorite games "Kirby: Air Ride". The boost mechanic in that game always felt so lovely and intuitive, so I tried to capture the essence of that here in this game.
Once I had a fun core mechanic, I just needed to add some obstacles to challenge it. All I did in this case was add a few meteors.
The next step is to create a scoring system. I'm thinking of adding increased scores if you strike multiple asteroids in a single boost. I was also thinking of allowing chain reactions to occur if a blue meteor hits a red meteor. Just some fun flavorful stuffs.
