Version 1.50.31 introduces a major expansion of the tutorial and onboarding systems across Knights of Crystalis.
As KoC has grown, the number of interconnected systems has increased significantly. This update is designed to make the game much easier to understand for new and returning players without simplifying the underlying mechanics.
The existing Interactive Field Manual remains available, but it is now complemented by a much more structured guided-learning system.
Tutorial & Onboarding 2.0 introduces 10 structured tutorial chapters covering the major systems of Knights of Crystalis:
Together, these chapters contain 37 guided tutorial steps.
The goal is to teach systems gradually rather than presenting a large amount of information at once.
A new reusable Spotlight Engine has been introduced.
During guided tutorials, the system can:
This allows tutorials to reference real KoC interface elements instead of relying entirely on static text.
Tutorial steps can now require actual interaction.
Six guided steps use real action requirements, allowing the player to learn by using the interface rather than simply clicking through instructions.
Tutorial progression can therefore react to player interaction instead of functioning only as a slideshow.
Guided tutorials remain optional and flexible.
Players can:
Progress is preserved so that a tutorial does not need to be completed in one session.
The existing Tutorial route has been expanded into a more complete learning center.
The new Tutorial Hub displays:
The original Interactive Field Manual remains available alongside the new guided system.
Version 1.50.31 introduces a dedicated Combat Training Simulator.
Players can safely practice core combat concepts such as:
Training is deliberately separated from real progression.
The simulator uses:
This creates a safe environment for learning combat mechanics without affecting the player's actual save.
A new built-in glossary explains 24 important KoC terms.
Topics include concepts such as:
Glossary support includes both English and German terminology where applicable.
The Home screen can now provide contextual guidance through a new Recommended Next Step system.
Recommendations depend on the player's current state.
Examples include:
This helps reduce the common problem of returning to a complex save and not knowing what to do next.
Existing players are not automatically pushed through beginner onboarding.
Older saves can access Tutorial 2.0 voluntarily.
Newer or early-game profiles receive clearer guidance toward the onboarding system, while established saves can continue playing normally.
The Interactive Field Manual has not been removed.
Version 1.50.31 adds the guided tutorial system on top of the existing reference material instead of replacing it.
This provides two complementary learning styles:
Guided Learning for step-by-step onboarding.
Field Manual for reference and deeper system explanations.
The critical audio-output fix introduced in version 1.50.30 remains intact.
The repaired Web Audio output graph was not modified by the tutorial update.
The complete expanded audio system remains available, including:
