Version 1.29.0 is now available.
After several updates focused on systems, progression, exploration, endgame and music, this release turns the spotlight back toward the people who inhabit Crystalis.
The world already had recurring characters.
Now those characters can remember you, react to you, trust you, disagree with you, and become part of your long-term story.
Welcome to Living Legends.
Version 1.29.0 introduces full relationship progression for 10 established characters:
Each character now has a dedicated trust path:
Stranger → Known → Trusted → Ally → Legendary Ally
Trust is earned through meaningful progression rather than simple repetition.
The system recognizes real activity across the game, including Campaign progress, Guild advancement, Hall clears, Bestiary research, Forgotten Roads, Crownstead development, crafting, World Tiers, raids, hunts, Aquarium progress and more.
Every relationship arc contains three personal quests.
That creates:
30 dedicated companion quests
across the current cast.
These are not generic “talk to this NPC ten times” objectives.
Their goals are tied to the systems and history associated with each character.
A runesmith should care about your Forge progression.
A huntmaster should react to your hunting record.
A scholar should care about what you have discovered.
A companion tied to Crownstead should recognize what you have built there.
Veteran players are not forced to repeat completed progression simply because the relationship system was added later.
Existing accomplishments can count retroactively where appropriate.
Normal conversation can improve trust.
A daily talk grants a small amount of relationship progress, but that path has a hard limit.
Daily conversations can raise a character only to:
95 Trust
That means the final step to Legendary Ally cannot be earned through repetitive chatting.
The character’s personal storyline must still be completed.
The full intended trust structure is:
Total:
100 Trust
The final relationship rank is therefore tied to actually finishing the character arc.
Every relationship arc also includes a major choice.
There are:
These choices are stored in a new long-term system called the:
Consequence Ledger
The purpose of the Ledger is larger than version 1.29.0 itself.
It gives future updates a reliable way to remember what the player actually decided.
That can later influence:
A decision is therefore not simply a button that grants a different reward.
It becomes part of the world state.
Completing a character’s full storyline can promote them to:
Legendary Ally
Legendary Allies unlock small utility benefits connected to their identity.
These perks are intentionally narrow.
They do not provide large global combat bonuses.
Examples include:
The guiding rule is:
utility, identity and convenience instead of permanent universal damage scaling.
This keeps relationships meaningful without turning them into mandatory combat progression.
During final QA, an issue was found in two of the new once-per-day perks.
The daily-use markers for Neris and Maera could be removed during relationship-state normalization.
That could have allowed those bonuses to trigger repeatedly on the same day.
This was fixed before release.
The daily state now survives normal save, JSON and normalization cycles correctly.
The final regression tests confirmed that each reward triggers exactly once per local day.
Living Legends also expands the idea behind Crownstead Reforged.
The capital can now react to important relationship milestones.
Relationship progression can contribute to:
This continues the broader design direction of recent updates:
Important accomplishments should leave some visible trace in the world.
One of the main priorities for 1.29.0 was avoiding unnecessary veteran re-grinding.
The relationship system can recognize existing progression from systems including:
If a personal quest asks for something you have already genuinely accomplished, the game can recognize that history.
Version 1.29.0 also introduces seven new achievements tied to Living Legends.
These cover major relationship and decision milestones.
The full achievement database now contains:
458 achievement definitions
with:
458 unique achievement IDs
The soundtrack continues to expand alongside the world.
All ten Living Legends characters now have their own original musical themes.
The current soundtrack therefore contains:
The same anti-recycling rules remain active.
Current audio validation reports:
Character music can now become part of future story scenes, personal quests and major relationship moments.
One of the most important parts of Living Legends is not immediately visible.
The new relationship state and Consequence Ledger provide infrastructure for future narrative updates.
A future chapter can now ask questions such as:
Did the player trust this person?
Which decision did they make?
Is this character a Legendary Ally?
Which faction did the player support?
Did a specific companion storyline end one way or another?
Without that state, story choices can only create temporary dialogue.
With it, consequences can persist.
That makes Living Legends an important foundation for the next major narrative arc.
