Version 1.18.0 – Secrets of Crystalis is all about exploration.
Instead of expanding the main campaign with another chapter, this update focuses on hidden places, clues, relics, secret dungeons and powerful world bosses scattered across the existing world.
The goal is simple:
make exploration feel rewarding even when you already know the map.
A new main menu section called Secrets has been added.
This opens the new Discovery Journal, where all exploration progress is tracked.
The journal includes:
Unknown discoveries remain hidden as ??? until you actually uncover them.
Eight Treasure Maps can now be discovered through campaign progression.
These are not random 1% drops.
Each map contains an actual clue pointing toward a specific region, creating a more deliberate exploration loop:
Find the clue → investigate the region → discover the secret
Some discoveries can reveal additional puzzles and deeper hidden areas.
Ten secret locations have been added across the existing world.
Several of them are only revealed after following Treasure Map clues or solving environmental puzzles.
These include hidden areas such as:
The World Atlas therefore has more to discover without requiring an entirely separate map.
Version 1.18.0 introduces 6 new environmental puzzles.
These use clues, symbols and exploration knowledge rather than random guessing.
Solving certain puzzles can reveal:
This gives Field Notes and exploration clues more purpose beyond simple lore collection.
Five additional hidden expeditions are now available:
These follow a compact structure:
Choice → Battle → Puzzle → Secret Boss
First clears provide stronger rewards and unique relics.
Repeat clears remain available, but unique relic rewards cannot be farmed repeatedly.
Five powerful world bosses can now be discovered:
These encounters use the existing combat and Combat Intel systems, including elemental weaknesses and tactical traits.
Each boss also awards a unique relic on its first defeat.
The new exploration system includes 12 Ancient Relics.
Relics are designed primarily as permanent discoveries and trophies rather than a new power-creep system.
Their passive bonuses are intentionally small and can include effects such as:
The main value remains completing the collection.
Exploration now has its own progression path:
Wayfarer → Pathfinder → Trailseeker → Relic Hunter → Master Explorer
Explorer Rank increases as you discover more secrets.
During testing, the final rank requirement was also corrected so that Master Explorer is actually achievable at 46 / 46 total discovery points.
The Crystalis Chronicle has been expanded with 15 new Exploration Achievements.
These cover:
The game now contains:
398 Achievements
All Achievement IDs remain unique, and all 398 include both English and German display text.
Version 1.18.0 is fully integrated into the supporting systems.
Added or updated:
The News Board now contains 47 unique entries.
