Knights of Crystalis 1.15.0 RC2 is now ready.
Unlike the previous 1.15.0 builds, this release candidate does not focus on adding another major gameplay system.
Instead, RC2 is a full stability, consistency and quality pass across the game — with special attention given to Achievements, the News section, Tutorials, save compatibility and the large number of systems added during the 1.15.0 development cycle.
At this point, the feature set for 1.15.0 is considered frozen.
The focus now is making sure everything works together as reliably as possible.
One of the biggest areas reviewed for RC2 was the Crystalis Chronicle / Achievement system.
Many of the newer Card Arena and Casino systems had grown significantly beyond the original Achievement coverage.
RC2 adds 40 new retroactive Achievements, increasing the total number from:
314 → 354 Achievements
The new Achievements cover progression such as:
All 314 existing Achievement IDs remain unchanged, so previous Achievement progress remains compatible.
Many of the new Achievements are also retroactive and can recognize progress already present in an existing save.
The in-game News Board has received a complete RC2 update.
A new pinned 1.15.0 RC2 entry now summarizes the current release and its major stability improvements.
The complete previous News history remains available.
RC2 currently contains:
42 News entries with 42 unique IDs
The internal News categorization and RC2 detection have also been updated so future release entries can be handled more consistently.
The Tutorial / Player's Guide has been expanded to properly explain many systems introduced throughout 1.15.0.
New and updated guide sections now cover:
Additional RC2 information also explains save and recovery behavior.
The new Tutorial entries use stable explicit IDs so existing "read" states are not disrupted.
RC2 also significantly expands the game's internal release diagnostics.
The release self-check now validates more systems together, including:
This should make it much easier to catch incomplete or accidentally mixed release files before a build is published.
