Beat Blast Alpha 5.6
This might be one of the last updates to the free web version of Beat Blast. We have been working a ton on the Steam release and we are really excited for you all to play it. This update has a bunch of audio updates along with balancing, and bug fixing. Enjoy!
Audio
- Several sounds have had their volumes adjusted
- Beat repeats (double or triple hits in a single column - Gatling and Double Trouble for example) no longer repeat the sound of the column
- Minibosses have a new death sound so you can tell if they’ve been defeated offscreen
- Sentinel has had SFX changed on its homing attack
- Beetle miniboss has had its SFX redone
- Queen Bee has had her SFX completely redone
- Meg&Byte have a new phase transition sound
Visual
- New VFX for solo yellow notes
- Player projectiles are now placed under enemy projectiles to make enemy shots easier to see late in the game. We will likely be improving this more in the future
- Lots of UI tweaks to existing menus to make them more consistent and appealing
Features
- 21:9 aspect ratio support for menus!
Balance
- Yellow note VFX made larger to better match the damage radius
- Solo Yellow notes damage reduced by 50% and radius reduced by 33%
- Blue + Purple and Green + Purple damage reduced 33%
- Gatling damage per shot increased from 33% to 40%
- Barrage shots scaled down 20% to help limit screen clutter
- Damage boosts start at 15%, but never deteriorate
Bug Fixes
- Notes can no longer be purchased in stores at or above the note cap
- The bit icon will appear next to your bit count right from the start of the game (previously was only appearing once you collected a bit)
- Health will once again appear in stores if the player is below 3 health rather than above!
- Fixed some visual bugs in the options menu, specifically with gamepad rebinding
