Hey hey everyone!!
It took a long while, but I finally have a brand new update for you regarding my World Map Generator! (:
(Also, for fans of my turn based strategy game, Netherguild, don't worry! I'm still working on Netherguild and in fact I have a lot of great news that I'll announce in the next few months).
It was a tough, lengthy struggle but rivers are finally here as an option for your own generated worlds.
What does this mean?
First of all, this should add a lot of depth and visual variety to your maps, and generally make the maps used more fun (:
Rivers also have the potential to help shape borders- that can be expressed more greatly by increasing the "water spread difficulty" setting, but you can see it take effect in base-setting maps too:
(For example, red and white have been lightly blocked by rivers here!)
I write more in length about my process (and struggles!) of adding rivers over on my project's Patreon- so feel free to check that out if you're interested. But for now, rejoice! And please enjoy these wonderful little rivers in any worldbuilding projects you may need random maps for- a book, a table top role playing game campaign, a video game or just for fun! (:
You may have noticed it, but I've also added a lot more options for the generator since the last update- like a "speed" slider, for people to choose how fast their world gets populated, or a helpful "help" button that explains a few things about the generator to newcomers.
I hope to add a lot more features to this generator over time, so if you do try it out and end up liking it, please follow me on Itch.io! I'm excited to try to add roads and trading routes next :D
Cheers- hope you have a great weekend, and if you wish to try out the world map generator you can do so here.
