Idle Hands
A browser game made in HTML5

Quick story:

I started learning Godot a few years ago, and an "idle clicker" seemed like a fun, simple project. I could learn Timer and UI nodes, and hook up signals, and it was more than just the normal platformer type things. I got it to a point where I was happy and stopped, and never put it up anywhere.

Then I got an idea for a theme "Idle Hands", based on the misinterpretation of a Bible verse "Idle hands are the devil's workshop". I was surprised to learn no one had actually done it, so I built out a prototype in javascript. I uploaded that here about a year ago... and forgot about it. Then a couple of months ago, I was looking at the Itch analytics, and saw it was actually getting some people playing. So I thought, maybe I can take my previous Godot game and apply the theme, and make it better and add some new features. And that's where we are now.

The basic gameplay is just a typical idle clicker, but the goal is to traverse the 9 circles of Hell by collecting demons. One of the new additions is the concept of "souls". A lot of idle games have some kind of "prestige" currency that persists, and I thought Souls fits the theme pretty well. And the final bit, after you complete the first run, you can battle The Devil during your next run... and he's trying to steal back your demons.  I also added The CrossRoads, where you can make a deal with The Devil... and the result can be good or bad.

So I got the basic game with the Souls feature for free on Itch, and for $2.99 you can download a Windows or Linux edition. I also started the process of adding it to Steam, so hopefully that will be live in a couple of weeks.
