PotentialTD DevLog #3 - Tile & Controller 2/2 ++
PotentialTD
has been updated!
v0.0.4.5a+ - Tile & Controller Update 2/2 ++
Summary
Greetings!
The Tile & Controller Update 2/2 is here!
Plus some cool changes I didn't plan to, but seemed fun to add!
This update is considered a full update because it's half of Tile & Controller Update and half of an update that was actually planned to be around v0.06.
Cool new stuff :
Selecting once without "Left_Shift" button pressed, and than, unselecting and selecting again with it pressed, allowing for multiple tiles to be selected
This will allow you to select multiple tiles at once by holding down the LEFT_SHIFT button while left clicking each tile to select it!
Selecting a couple of tiles with Left_Shift pressed & afterwards just clicking around the action buttons on TileController, causing all tiles to do the action at the same time
Of course what would the multiple tile selection system without the abiltiy to actually use it for practical reasons (other than getting the satisfying feedback of the tile boxes getting marked when clicked). So hereby you can now also do the same action on all tiles selected at the same time!
Farm tiles doing the automatic gathering process resulting to mushlog resources going up
I've added functionality to more tiles other than the gate and wall that were the only ones having any sort of available actions so far. So now there is a bit more exploring to do on that aspect!
Selecting a farm building tile and clicking the upgrade button, causing an upgrade of the tile to the next level allowing for new actions and upgrades
Upgrading Tiles fully works now!
Selecting multiple Tiles and upgrading them all at once works as well! (you may discover a bug that will be fixed there though =D)
hovering mouse over buildings allowing to display their costs and info
I've temporarily removed the wall and the tent tile for they had no real purpose of fun functionality so far. Mainly just to keep things clean. You might also notice that the Costs and Info Boxes now actually display some useful information (for most buttons in the gui)
The game kind of acts like a clicker game for the time being... but that will change once the workers etc. are implemented, so, don't worry, it won't stay this way.
That's all so far!
That's all you need to know about this update in order to understand the new features, the rest of them I leave to you to discover and play around with !
It'd be highly appreciated if you could send me per email (ixbayOriginal@gmail.com) all the bugs you've stumbled uppon so I can do my best to make sure you don't have to deal with them in future versions.
Notes
- There are certain bugs wtih the multi selectiong mechanism, but those will most likely be solved on the next update.
- The update was ready in time, but the DevLog wasn't Complete, that's why it got 12h delayed than the maximum expected date & time.
- The next update will be postponed for most likely early july, cause I will be this week (15th to 21st June 2020) busy with a different Project which is a group project for the univesity. Regarding the rest of June I will likely organize a 10 day game jam for the community of a youtuber and friend of mine which will likely last all the way from 25th June up to 4th July, but nothing is certain so far I am still discussing this with him. However for any case, just drop by 1st July and if there is no update, than means that the Update will come out early July between 7th and 9th of July.
- Don't forget to follow me or this project so you can stay tuned regarding the upcomming update! That way you won't have to manually blindly come by and check it our yourself.
Comments
- Thank you for dropping by, it means a lot to me as a Game Developer if anyone (other than myself) cares enough to read any bit of these DevLogs.
I'm going to practice on improving them so they aren't super tiring to read atleast halfway every time.
- I got feedback that selecting one by one the tiles was very tiring so I sat down and took some time to implement multiple tile selection, there
have been 2 attempts before redisigning and recoding completely how the tile selection system works!
- Sorry I didn't add the system as mentioned in the last DevLog's comments, but I underastimated certain bugs and systems and so here we are now. Thus I promise you on the next update (if it's not a 1/2 update again) to include a nice full menus (not practically functioning, but a the layout of it, so you can get an idea of how it will look like in the later versions. and so you can have the comfort of chilling in the main menu screen)
- Thank you for your time, have a marvelous day!

v0.0.5a - Menus & Builds-Bar Update
EDIT (04.07.2020):
A lot of unexpected events occured lately, so this update won't be getting uploaded any time soon.
I am hereby appoligizing to anyone looking forward to it, but there are greater priorities for these weeks, I might upload other smaller projects in between, which I've been practicing on recently a bit on my spare time, but other than that you can Expect an update to most likely be there by the end of July or Middle of October.
Thank you for your understanding.
Cheers,
Dimitrios Kitsikidis
