I’ve finally decided to rip the bandage off. I missed a couple game jams already due to fear over what I had put together. Now is the time to actually make a release.
In the spirit of things like VOID 1680 AM this is a simple tri-fold brochure. I am a fan of really bad movies like Birdemic and folks that lampoon them like RiffTrax. Take a moment to put yourself in the shoes of the people that come up with these movies, though. Just where do they get these ideas from?
In slrpnls plz you mission is to roll yourself scaffolding for a story. Your referee/financier helps set what your budget ceiling is. Are you going to make the next Manos: The Hands of Fate or even the next Beast of Yucca Flats? Budget ceilings do cause creative pressures.
Once you get your ceiling and your scaffolding, you write your pitch. When everybody is done, you vote on the pitches. Whoever gets the most vote wins. What do you win? That’s up to you. There’s certainly enough real life film making competitions that I encourage to actually go out and make a pitch into reality if you can.
Consider this a warm up stretch for your next Mothership game or a wonderful downtime activity if you need a break from the horrors. It also stands alone too.
