It’s been a week now, and the Weekly Game Jam 149 gave us an opportunity to study and work on the horror genre.
The jam wasn’t a win for us: we had a scope too big, and you can feel that in the “demo” scene. It does not represent what was planned, and from now on we are working actively on The Shape (provisional name).
We hope that these logs will give you some sneak-peeks of what the game will be. Any feedback is appreciated.
All this work is done in collaboration with Cyberebral (https://cyberebral.itch.io/).
Planning
We have
written several documents during and after the jam: game design
document, level design document, art bible, references and study
document, GANTT diagram (scheduling), etc.
The whole development process is outlined, and we can have a rough estimate of how long it will take us to finish this project.
Progress
Some design elements have been hidden because we do not want to spoil events.
Here's our friendly support mascot for scaling !
Now that we’re almost done with the first prototype scene (the tutorial), we hope to release in about a week the true (“tech”) demo for your more than welcome feedback.
After that (or sooner if it goes really well), we will start our first “development sprint” to shape the game’s content.
Expect weekly devlogs, and check out my twitter (https://twitter.com/TheExkaiser) if you want more casual updates :)
See you next week !
