Welcome to this month's voidsprite progress report.
We are slowly reaching a state I'd consider a Beta, which is why most recent additions are fixes and usability improvements. Regardless, here are this month's highlights:
Up until now, blend mode was a toggle between replace and overlay mode. This is now a dropdown on the action bar, and has 4 modes: Replace, Overlay, Add and Multiply. Currently, this only applies to brushes, but whole layer blend modes are a long-term planned feature.
This feature had been planned for a long time, but now with the rewritten universal parameter system, it's here. Currently, PNGs let you set the compression level, AVIFs and JPEGs the quality, but in the future more options will be available.
While the animated background was originally intended as a replacement for the checkerboard backgrounds found in other graphics editors, you may now have a checkerboard background, too. The colors are configurable in settings, I personally use what you see here in the screenshot.
Some other changes include:
- reworked Measure tool,
- more panels (layers, frames, references) are now resizable,
- shift+doubleclick with Isolate Rect tool to select all occurrences of color in layer,
- editor brush actions and tile loop preview can now be bound to a key,
- applying filters now keeps the preview's random seed
The full list of changes is in the GitHub release.
