Hello everyone! After 0.2.2 which brought a massive logistics overhaul and new way to control your logistics networks, I wanted to use 0.2.3 to focus on changing and refining some core systems that have been in in Array for a long time! This update brings a complete planet overhaul and the first part of the colonies overhaul! Let's get right into it as we have a lot to cover!
Planets and moons now have actual surfaces that colonies get built on! This was necessary for the full colony overhaul and will bring a whole new dimension to the overall gameplay!
Taking the place of where the original build menu was for colonies is the brand-new Planet/Moon View. When a player clicks on a planet or moon, they will notice the ‘Build’ text in the UI Panel navigation will change to either ‘Planet’ or ‘Moon’. By clicking these, players are brought to the surface of the stellar body where they are able to see all of their colonies from a birds-eye view. This is also where colonies are made now.
Once the player chooses to establish a colony, they will be brought into the “Place Colony Mode” where they can place their colony anywhere on the planet surface.
This change sets the stage for some pretty large changes I have planned for colonies and colony logistics.
These last changes added the need for some heavy pre-processing (terrains are big yo) so I added a loading screen that will now appear when loading saves!
