About the Growbook:
When I was in middle school, my friends and I wrote notes to each other in a collective notebook. One by one, we'd fill in the pages with our own musings and pass it along to the next pal, who would read the latest entries & write their own. Through the Notebook, we'd watch friendships develop, inside jokes created, and individual lives unfold.
I wanted to take the essence of the Notebook & translate it into a tool to be used in this critical moment. Designed to share with a small Pod of folks we're building/abolishing/sharing/creating/etc. with during COVID-19 and beyond... so that Pods can continue to bond & grow during physical distancing.
I shared this project idea with my friend (& collaborateur!) Cori Nakamura Lin who aptly named it The Growbook. Cori is a fellow illustrator who roots herself in deep, mycelium work in hopes of making this world a more connected, empathetic, just, and livable place -- for humans and non-humans alike. I couldn't imagine working with a better pal for this project.
To everyone who downloads and "picks up" the Growbook, thank you. We are thrilled, humbled, and honored to be co-creating alongside you.
