Hey, all. Been a bit, so I figured I'd give a wee bit of an update. As of the moment, I am still working on the second of the three continents that the party ventures to, currently working on making the way to the second Bastion of Light. Within the past few days, a few fairly large changes have been and are in the process of being made.
One is that the damage algorithms have been changed upon discovering that damage output did not change as expected when the player reached a higher level. I was in the process of making an end-game optional boss in one of the current areas I am currently working on and, after doing various test runs on the battle, I found that the damage was very meager for what level the party was at. With that knowledge in mind, I went through each spell/skill and means of attack all playable characters had, as well as the few damaging items that can be used in battle, and changed their damage to better scale with the user's level (if applicable). A damage cap has also been set, allowing the player to reach a maximum damage of 99,999 damage in a single hit, making quicker work of enemies/bosses while still allowing the player to feel powerful and certain bosses to not be as much of a chore to defeat.
Another addition that I have introduced today and am still in the process of implementing is the ability to completely skip cutscenes. Being that this is my third overall test of what I have of the game thus far, I had the realization that replaying the game would be a complete chore not just for me, but for those who wish to play New Game + or a New Game entirely. The ability to skip cutscenes will indefinitely be a life-saver, as well as a time saver, allowing players to simply skip cutscenes that they have already seen to get on to more gameplay or perhaps even a boss that has killed him/her over and over again.
And with that, there is nothing else very substantial to report. Just know, I am being very diligent in my crafting and will continue to make my game as finely tuned and as enjoyable as possible. Stay tuned for more updates and possibly be expecting another demo version in the near future.
