NEODRIVEA downloadable demo for Windows, macOS, and Linux
My URP switch is stalled due to the toon shader asset I’m using being borked for my version of Unity and the URP. So I’m back to small updates.
- fixed a bug where the car would stall instantly with no gas on a bad launch. I was updating the engine in a framerate-dependent way on one line so the automatic gradual clutch release on a missed manual shift works as intended finally
- this also makes the engine’s pitch change differently on nitroing
- fix long Steam names clipping through the top right scorecard
- increased framerate by ~20%, maybe more on lower-end computers. Neodrive really does not need expensive water reflections as long as the water receives shadows correctly. which it does
- added red feedback on shifting bad and stalling/money-shifting (pic related)
- smooth the steering angle on the replay car over time
After this, I really need to make a UX pass on the demo. I’ve seen people not realize you could drift despite it being in the tutorial.
