Toast?

Hello Slingerz! Today we have some nice updates for you, starting off with our new toast UI system which can be seen in use above. This new system allows us to place "toasts" dynamically in any location we need to, namely above each player’s head. We are now able to display short indicators to the player for actions that have been in the game but never visually displayed as affordances that something has happened. For example, we now display a toast when a spell is blocked or stored, inputs are cleared, or RAM is gained. We are currently utilizing this new system to better provide information to the player.

RAM Gained

Here you can see the new +RAM toast that displays whenever a player is defeated, as well as a glimpse of the "Inputs Cleared" toast that shows up when you clear your inputs in the "Spell Weave" state. The player who lands the final blow on another player is always awarded +100 RAM for the kill, whereas another 200 RAM is distributed amongst all players who participate in the kill based on damage done. 2 of our new particle effects are shown here as well, with the yellow indicating that the player has stacks of "reps" and the orange indicating which player is currently in the lead. Spellcodes

5 new .config spellcodes have been added to the game, and 1 has been removed. We spent a long time deliberating on Overclock's role in VWave's arsenal, and ultimately decided to remove it for 2 reasons:

  1. We found it difficult to balance between being too oppressing and useless. The .config didn't feel rewarding enough to ever pick or play around.
  2. The small close range burst of Overclock didn't lean into the player fantasy of VWave's screen control.

With these additions, all Developer Collectives now have 4 .exe Spellcodes and 2 .config Spellcodes, making for 2 full sets per collective and 24 total unique Spellcodes in the game.

  • Mine Crafter (VWave)
  • No-Scope Shot (VWave)
  • Rod of Asclepius (Killeez)
  • Aura Farmer (DemonX)
  • Penny Stock Peddler (BigStox)

Removed:

  • Overclock (VWave)

Arenas

3 new big arenas have been added to the rotation:

  • Big Apartments: A big arena with 2 close quarter areas split by an open alleyway. 
  • Big In And Out: A big arena that is split into 2 parts with the left area being more cramped/close quarters while the right is more open. 
  • Big The Long Way: A big and wide map for more horizontal combat.

Patch Notes

.exe Spellcodes

Gift of Prometheus:

  • Reduced base damage from 30 > 15
    • Dev Note: with all of the buffs provided to the fixed Gift of Prometheus, the move is now far too easy to hit given its massive reward even when unstacked. We've removed much of the base damage, meaning that in order to get those "meaty" meatball blasts, you'll need to stack up a few more "reps" on average

.config Spellcodes

Aura Farmer - Demon-X (New Spellcode!)

  • After 6 seconds of standing still, gain 20 "Demon Aura", and continue to gain 20 "Demon Aura" every second afterwards.

No-Scope Shot - VWave (New Spellcode!)

  • While in "Flow State," replace your basic attack with a long-range sniper shot. If this spell hits, consume all "Flow State" and deal increased damage based on the amount consumed.

Overclock:

  • Removed: Replaced by Mine Crafter

Mine Crafter - VWave (New Spellcode!)

  • Replacement for removed spell Overclock
  • While in "Flow State", your slide leaves behind a mine, arming after a short while. Only 1 mine can exist at a time.

Rod of Asclepius - Killeez (New Spellcode!)

  • Heal 15 hp once after every 3rd "Rep" you gain.

Penny Stock Peddler - Big Stox (New Spellcode!)

  • Your “Stock Stability" is capped at 15%. All excess Stock Stability is converted into bonus damage upon hitting an empowered "Big Stox" Spell
