So I actually moved this week, but still managed to get some good work done for the game. It's mostly changes for power-ups, which were made easier by some of the tools dev I also accomplished this week. Here's the list of things you should hopefully notice.
Before, you'd grab the bomb, and then it would explode on your next match. Now, it drops an obstacle that you can set off in a number of ways:
Look out for more power-ups to go from grab-and-fire to being more drop-and-fire in the future!
Last week, I added the lightning power-up, which strikes an obstacle and turns all the obstacles in an area into breakable, glass-like obstacles. This week, I tweaked the way it picks where to strike: lightning always strikes where it will hit the most unconverted obstacles. Maybe there will be a lightning rod drop later that lets you set a location for high chance of strikes--dunno, still kicking ideas around.
The hourglass used to stop time until you picked up another power-up or matched a wave. It still does, but it used to, too! The change here, though, is that if you wait too long, the waves start back up on their own. This accomplishes two things that I found important:
In keeping with the whole color explodes out from you when you match thing, your internal color now transitions in a similar fashion. I mostly just think it looks cool. Hopefully you do too.
Next week will likely entail more power-up tweaks and transformations. I also want to get at the Steam and Google Play features, such as achievements and leaderboards, sooner than later. Let me know what you think of the changes with the "Give Feedback" option in the game's menu. Thanks for playing; have good weekend!
