Old Maps are back!

The Longest Front
A downloadable game for Windows

MountainVillages and MountainStream were updated to work with the new skirmish mode. As an added bonus time and weather can now be set on those maps! A lot of work was invested in improving how bots use vehicles to get from one objective to the next. In addition bot commands were refactored and improved. Enjoy the update!

Features

  • Added back old MountainVillages and MountainStream maps. They now use the new skirmish game mode, which allows setting time of day and weather.
  • Map images for random maps are now automatically generated
  • Forests now have a higher navigation cost for vehicles. This should make vehicles avoid driving through forests unless necessary.

Improvements

  • Skirmish vehicle crew now runs to vehicle and doesn't teleport inside anymore
  • Simplified skirmish tank classes
  • Skirmish vehicles now have cooldowns that can be adjusted per map
  • Infantry squads can now call in transport vehicles
  • Bot infantry squad leaders now call in transports and order squad members to mount and dismount
  • Added back "smart select" (tilde key ~) when classic command menu (tab) is open. In other cases new radial command menu is shown.
  • Unified Bot Commmand and Radial Bot Command menu entries.
  • Improved Bot Command categories. Now the main categories are "Select", "Movement", "Mounting".
  • Increase turret traverse time to reach full speed to 2 seconds to make it easier to do small movements with short button presses.
  • Spawn points near contested control points are now disabled to make it easier to take enemy points and prevent spawn killing.
  • Only allow sending back soldiers that are alive
  • If bot controlled vehicles are upside down they are now reset after a short time
  • Rally points are now destroyed if there are 3 or more spawn kills within 5m
  • Prevent bot controlled vehicles from crashing into each other
  • Now possible to spawn in/near Universal Carrier
  • Updated Unreal Engine to 5.7.2

Bugfixes

  • Fix crash related to truck inventory transfer
  • Fix crash when vehicle was destroyed
  • Fix crash related to unlocked items
  • Fix crash related to vehicle mounts
  • Vehicle wheels affected by engine were not set up properly
  • Melee weapons could go through steel 
  • Post battle stats no longer appear since the time taken to get back to base is too soon
  • Build material is not given back when deconstructing certain structures (Specifically trenches and platforms)
  • Fix skirmish weather setting not being saved
  • Fix change class button not showing
  • Mission end screen was showing incorrect value for collected supplies
  • Panzerfausts and Panzerknacker could not kill tanks due to a missing setting introduced in an earlier ballistics optimization
  • Fixed tanks not prioritizing attacking other tanks over infantry
  • Due to an optimization bots sometimes failed to mount vehicle when far away from player

Optimization

  • Prevented certain objects from causing navigation to rebuild
  • Activated soldier and vehicle pooling again after fixing some issues
