Greetings! 0.1.8 came out with a few solid refinements and some much-needed additions to things that hadn’t been brought up to speed with the multi-resources update like the Space Junk Collector! 0.1.9 focuses mostly on introducing SystemBuilder v7 the core of Array which powers the simulated solar systems, galaxies, and other simulated space features you see in the game. I am very excited with the changes that are coming in this update and in the upcoming 0.2.0 series of updates which I will be revealing the road map for on our Discord (https://discord.gg/Rzv5SPt7tX)
Originally, I had comets in the game but only as defensive events (which need a much-needed overhaul). Now comets are directly integrated into SystemBuilder, this allows them to utilize the generated math that is made for every simulated star system and galaxy, giving them real simulated orbital trajectories and eventually gaining enough momentum from the systems star to shoot out of the system using a gravitational slingshot effect (which gives about 2.5-4x velocity boost on the final pass).
Now plants show little specs of the resources that generate on them. This gives players a visual queue to explore some planets over others (although I recommend exploring you never know what will generate)!
I also made the planets have more of an obvious look for what type of planet it is (gas giant, rocky, etc.)
I found a bug that would cause certain resolutions to not render the moons properly and it would only show their placeholder dots; this has been rectified! Moons also got an update to how they are colored along with the changes that came to planet colors.
Previously asteroid belts would only spawn in their own orbits around a systems star, now they can spawn around planets and moons at random orbits!
Fixed an issue where the zoom scale would mess up the look of the solar system in certain instances. Now the zoom is handled more gracefully allowing the
In a previous update I had made the debug menu click and draggable as well as resizable, this was previously not working but has now been fixed.
I added a render scale setting to the settings menu this is for some future changes that I am going to try and bring to Array.
As always, I am excited to hear what you all think about this update! Big things coming in 0.2.0, I am excited to show you it soon!
