Sara's JOI Training (JOI Training)
A browser game made in HTML5

Hi all! This week we made a lot of "quality of life" updates. We focused on fixing bugs and improving the website before pushing more with "marketing" and having more people playing the game. Here are the improvements:

  • New website logo!
  • Fixed bugs that would not show the dialogues when playing from iOS. We had a lot of iOS players that couldn't play correctly in the past days unfortunately, now everything should work fine.
  • We solved a few bugs of the audio system which would cause audios to not play or play distorted.
  • During a game, the three button options (to enable/disable audio, auto-advance dialogue, and random choices) are now grouped together under a "settings" button. It's the second button in the screenshot below. Moreover, there's now a "report/feedback" button that allows the player to submit a bug report or feedback about the game. It's the third button in the screenshot below.
  • Small achievements bug fixing that would unlock an achievement at the wrong time in very specific situations.
  • Now, if a user tries to register with a wrong email, he can try to register again with another email (before it wasn't allowed). When a user registers via email, the registration message now says to check if the email used is correct.
  • In the last JOI phase of a session, there's no more the progress bar as it's now of infinite duration. In place of the progress bar, there's now a button that the player can click to finish the JOI session.
  • Towards the end of a JOI phase of a session, the metronome doesn't show anymore extra beats that are cut off because the challenge ends before they are played.
  • Fixed bug that would reset the metronome if the enable/disable audio setting was changed during gameplay.
  • Audios and images are now cached and preloaded, so they should load faster.
  • Better layout of the menu page. No more overlapping elements on mobile devices.

Moreover, we published the game on itch.io, you can find it here! It's just an HTML container that embeds our website, so it is automatically updated whenever we update the website. It's currently not indexed, so it can only be reached via direct URL and it can't be currently be found on search engines and from the "recent games" section of itch.io. We've read online that it can take up to two weeks for new games from new creators to be indexed, so we're currently waiting for it. We're curious to see how many users will itch.io bring to the game.

For next week, we're going to publish about joitraining.com to bigger subreddits, see their feedback, and then we'll probably do another round of "quality of life" improvements. We got a lot of useful feedback and bug reports from our first Reddit posts (we targeted subreddits in the order of 10k subscribers for now) and we plan to continue like this for the next weeks.

We have to think about the best way to publish updates on Patreon so that we can also talk about NSFW content in them, but in a way where non-members can still get an idea of what is happening to the website. This is because it's not allowed on Patreon to have NSFW content in public posts, while it's allowed in posts visible just for members. Probably we'll simply change the visibility of the next updates to be for free/paid members.

In the next week, we'll also start thinking about how to allow players to select specific kinks in the menu page so that the game would focus on them. We're in early stage for this and several users asked for that, so this is something with a rather high priority.

If you want to support the development, please consider joining a membership on this Patreon page, as it will help us allocate more time on this project! Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
