Hello [Code_Name: MEVYE] [Location: CLASSIFIED], welcome back!
Today we will see the process of 3D modelling the megaphone, an element that produces noise in the environment.
In Noise Hunters there are megaphones that produce the same sounds as the player. This can be used to distract enemies when you have been detected. We will describe how this was modelled and what we had to keep in mind to make a flexible 3D model:
1. Look for reference images, in this case is simply by using a real megaphone is enough
2. Model the main part of the megaphone (leave the mount for later)
3. Model the mount as an external object
4. Position the pivot in the place where the mount would rotate (do the same with the megaphone)
5. Model the end part (Important to do everything for the inside before closing all the geometry)
6. Separate the moving part from the main body of the end part (position the pivot where you want it to rotate)
7. Do to versions: With and without the end part
8. Export to Unity and assign materials
By following this steps you end up with a model easy to implement and animate, thanks to pivot positioning.
Thanks for reading and don’t make any noise! 🤫
