0.2.0 Released
Balances
- Balanced AI aggressiveness on Easy and Very Easy difficulties
- There is now a grace period in the first 10 years of the game (from 1971 to 1981), where the AI is less aggressive than it would normally be
- Increased credit limit growth a bit
- Significantly reduced inflation in the mid to late game
- Reduced construction time
- There's now an additional power consumption increase when exceeding 3 GHz
- 12nm and beyond:
- Added a multicore yield penalty reduction. This effectively makes multicore CPUs even cheaper to make over time
- Reduced power consumption reduction by about 20%
- Reduced cache cost reduction a bit
Production
- Added the ability to outsource production capacity
- You can now sell your entire manufacturing division to become a fabless company
- You can now license process nodes (through the outsourcing system)
- When using a licensed node, 25% of the CPU development cost goes to the manufacturer as outsourcing income
- The node's Yield Rate (good vs bad dies) is now implemented. The more lines you allocate to a CPU of a given node, the faster that node's yield will grow
- Wafer Yield is now called Final Yield
- Unit Cost is now based on material cost, maintenance cost, yield rate, final yield, royalties and markup
- Wafer Cost is no longer a bunch of hardcoded values, nor does it affect manufacturing costs. It is now based on material cost (currently static), maintenance cost and yield rate
AI & Companies
- Added Cyrux, IVA Technologies, Digital Devices, SolarFoundries and TCMS
- Added logos for all companies
- Added Company Types:
- Inlet now offers foundry services, but only if there's no other foundry option available
- Texas Increments now offers foundry services
- Pilog is now a fabless company
- There is now an event about EMD, where they spin off their manufacturing division when near bankruptcy, founding SolarFoundries in the process
- Companies can now share Node technologies with each other, although this only happens when a company goes fabless AND the selected manufacturer has less advanced nodes than the company that selected them
- Inlet and EMD now follow their historical core counts after 2010, although EMD is a bit more flexible before 2017
- The AI is now much more willing to build new fabs
- The AI can now adjust prices dynamically
- Several improvements regarding financial decisions
Modifiers
- Added modifiers based on the company type
- CPU companies:
- CPU, Fabless companies:
- Foundry companies:
- -50% Maintenance Cost
- -20% Construction Cost
- TCMS has government subsidies, giving them:
- -10% Construction Cost (stacks with the foundry modifier)
- -33% Taxes
- -75% Interest
- Both Cyrux and IVA Technologies have a +500% Research Cost modifier to simulate their historical struggles (patent issues, etc)
Contracts
- Added contracts between companies (only foundry services, for now)
- Added text showing the probability of a CPU being accepted in a contract
- Contracts may now require a specific package type
- Companies now pay royalties when using licensed technologies
QoL
- Added money cheats
- Added a Production tab in the Analysis window
- Added a toggle to highlight the player in the Products tab
- You can now select which company to inspect in the Finance and Production tabs
- You can now navigate between input fields by pressing Tab
- Lines graph improvements
Notes
- For balance reasons, EMD is scripted to sign contracts only with SolarFoundries
- This version is not fully compatible with old saves. Starting a new game is highly recommended
The next update will focus on adding QoL features, with the main one being a dark mode.
