Week 6 - Melee in the Arena

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to week 6.

I write to you today about some exciting news.

Components! The main part of this game is to customize your fighting style as a robot pilot, and this can't be done without some good components. All of these are on their way to get implemented into the game, stay tuned to know when!

But, we also have something else to show you, and that comes first.

That's right, a new arena is in the making, and already implemented into the game (without textures). This form is permanent, but don't fret, because there is more to this arena than there seems to be.

More about that, to come in later devlogs.

Components! I will now go over the 3 new components, and the return of an old one, which has been redesigned into what it should have been.

We start with

The Hammer

The hammer as we will implement it is a standard weapon. It deals good damage, it knocks people away so you can go in again and hammer a second time. This component should feel really great to use, and I hope you'll enjoy it too. (The Hammer is in the build NOW)

The Grinder

The Grinder is an in-the-face sort of weapon, with not nearly the range of any other weapon, but it packs a punch. This thing shreds armor like it's nothing, and deals considerable damage, but it has none of the utility that the other two bring to the table. (The Grinder is not implemented yet)

The Slammer

Perhaps the most utilitarian, the Slammer provides a special move: this engine will make your robot jump into the air, and then slam down, which will result in a special type of machine that, in good hands, can avoid damage, and deal the damage it needs to deal. (The Slammer is not implemented yet)

Boosters

Boosters have been in the game before, they were even the main event of the previous build, in which the only way to attack was to charge and turn your bot.

These boosters have been redesigned to look the part for our game. Mechanical, slightly dangerous, but most of all fun to use.

On another note

The build that is now online is a remake of the previous one. This is done for efficiency, and to make matters easier for us, as we now know what we want and need. In this build, there will now be health, as there used to be, and other features that weren't in this new build before.
