As we work on getting lots of destructible objects, we would like to introduce one of our first little villains you will be able to play as!
Mr Raccoon cannot wait to destroy things, I hope you won't let him get caught. Mr. Raccoon isn't finished yet though, you can notice he has no color, so sadly, he is not in the game. (yet!)
You will also spot he has no legs or arms, why? Because want our animations to be very dynamic and crazy fun!
Stay tuned and you might see him in full glory next week! (Exciting! I am as excited as you!)
Our artists have also been working on designing a few things!
Ofcourse, the areas (the rooms in a house) wouldn't be big and messy, programmers aren't the greatest designers! Luckily, an artist designed a quick test of a living room (prop layout).
The last week has been a pretty busy week when it comes to getting Props! Why not have a look?
We've worked on implementing a random power up system. These drop randomly (chance-based, specific to the prop) on destruction of props. However, they aren't yet implemented in the Test Zone though. They require a bit of balancing before we let you go ham with them.
I'll tell you what they can do though!
- Want more POWER? It's going to go over 9000!
- Want to destroy FASTER?! Hell yeah!
- Want to be a very SPEEDY boy?! Like the Flash!
- SCORE?! Hell yes, we'll have a score system so you can compete with your friends!
We've redone the entire camera as we previously used Cinemachine. Sadly however, it didn't really want to work in our favour so our programmers worked hard to create it from scratch instead. Have a look!
We've internally revamped how we make our destructibles, this should speed up future development which means we can create them faster than you can say Destruction! (Please don't say it too fast though...)
Previously, we've used hinput, which is an add-on, but we've had issues with controllers suddenly controlling multiple characters or buttons doing the wrong actions. This could be because hinput still uses Unity's old input system which always had these issues.
We've now moved to Unity's NEW(!) Input System and it works perfectly! We can now support a lot more players (but we've maxed it at 4 for now!), so grab your friends and join the fun! (P.S. To join, all it takes is the press of a button now!)
We hope to finally bring the Cops in which will chase you through the zones. We also need an escape for this, which is also on the list. As you've read above, we also plan on getting the Player in by next week.
A lot of work on our plate, but worry not. We'll try and deliver!
Time To Destroy! Team,
- Matthias, Jeroen, Lennart, Lukas
