This update refines gameplay in a number of areas, including abilities, experience & growth, combat, dungeon events and land events. I feel the game is getting close to being feature-complete, at least for the initial release. From here on my focus will shift towards writing and finalizing the UI, including the New Game menu and more. As always, all feedback is welcome and much appreciated — thank you!
Gameplay
- Added Knuckleduster, Ring of Luck, Ring of the Ranger, Alchemy Set, Fairy
- Dungeon traps return as one-time ability checks
- Removed Concentrate and Sneak options
- Removed Haggling
- Add "try to dodge" button
- Tweaked abilities, weapons, shields, outfit, inventory slots, experience targets, and enemies
- Empty slots grant 2% evasion
- Implemented Shrine
- Added Empty Vials: these can be filled at Heal Pools and turned into Heal Potions. When a Heal Potion is used it turns into an Empty Vial.
- Some items can be used during combat, like Heal Potions
- Added Smoke bomb, which activates Sneak
- Added Try to Rush during combat, which activates all bonuses when successful
- Statues accept all weapon types, but give more favors for matching weapons
- Added 3 new enemies to dungeons
- Maps can be sold at merchants
- Heal, Statue and Shrine places are randomly distributed
- No xp gain on failed checks, but now on 100% checks, items and favors (basically only and all successful checks grant xp)
- Added Resurrect ring and Buckler
- Added bow and wand equivalents for mapmaker's weapon
- Distribute "rings" throughout the world
- Decrease chest contents
- Decrease merchant goods
- Dungeon check events don't give a reward on a failed check
- Add hp when hp-max is increased (and cap it to the new max when it decreases)
- Added ring that decreases inventory slot targets
- Add demons
- Swapped valley with forest, and swamp with ruins (better fit with the monsters)
- Defined character set and redefined random character generation
- Reveal which special item is hidden in each chapter (apart from the last)
- Ability check reward places don't give a reward on a failed check
- Add wraith/demon place to lands
- No forks in land 2
- Add explore/ambush place; when you're ambushed, combat immediately starts and enemy has initiative
- Tweaked reward sizes, drop chest chance, and hidden loot chance
- Added status effect protections to certain outfit pieces
Texts
- Rings are now called 'Accessories' to allow for wider variety of items
UI
- Show maps in items tab and remove maps tab
- Hide inventory sections that have 0 items
- Hide item descriptions in Inventory tab
- Add character selection menu (draft)
Others
- Remove console.log's
- REALLY switch to Mersenne Twister for RNG
