I decided to use a homegrown engine based in large part on the "Roguelike Tutorial Revised" and my own reading of the python tcod library.
Of course, I didn't go into this with a clear plan. And I haven't approached it in a systematic manner. So I have a nice map generator, and not a lot of good functionality to play with.
Tonight I'm just trying to iron out some basics: Get enemies into the game, get them interacting, make them killable, make the AIs work.
Tomorrow, I want to revisit all the special effects I had planned out, and get some of them working.
The rest of the week will be spent hammering this mess into some semblance of a story, and then adding a bit of flair. Oh, and make the level system work too. I'll also need more than 2 enemy types...
