Prototyping

Murderous Mutton
A downloadable game for Windows

Hello hello, first upload and first devlog. Lets dive right in!

This week we started prototyping our game. For now, we mostly used Unity, but we’re planning to test out some mechanics in Unreal to make sure we’re making the game in the right engine.
We had a couple of goals this week, some mechanics we wanted to test out, starting on the art bible, surviving, you know the basic stuff.

Programming Stuff:

For now, we have a simple build with all the prototype mechanics we made during this week.
For the player movement: we managed to have multiple players play at the same time, with multiple controllers or with the keyboard. You can still move quite fast, which will probably change in the future, and the player rotation has to be fixed as well.
The movement works a lot better with a Game-pad at the moment but, as a little test, it should be fine (aside from it looking quite funny seeing things flying around if you bump into them).

We implemented a farmer in our level that randomly walks around and goes to points of interest. When he sees players he follows them until they are out of reach, then he just goes to the last known location of the player. We’ll add more functionality to it later, but for now it’s a good start.

Pro Tip: Try grabbing, pulling and throwing objects! Especially together with someone else, it's a lot of fun!

Art Stuff:

Our artist Team did some nice work this week, searching for reference and creating some very first concepts, while working on our art bible!
I think pictures say more than 736 words so here are some pictures:

That is all for this weeks devlog! Have fun playing and feel free to share the fun in the comments!
