This game wasn't supposed to go live.
I originally wrote this game as an educational tool for a Twine class I was to teach in 2017. The intent was to be a simple game that the class could pick apart and look at various ways simple text can be used to tell a story. We ended up cancelling the class and so this little piece of fiction went onto the cutting room floor.
I pulled this back up two years later and, thinking that it might be a nice piece to put out onto the Internet, brushed it up and gave it a name.
Around that time I remember playing Year Walk and was inspired by the way they mixed legend and horror together in an unsettling blend. I took one of my favorite children's stories, Little Red Riding Hood as a base and started writing a horror story from it.
I find the premise of Little Red Riding Hood terrifying—a girl, alone in the woods on her way to her grandmother's place encounters a dark beast. This beast, depending on which version you read, either dresses and replaces her grandmother or eats her grandmother or both.
Imagine coming home to a place where your loved ones were replaced with wolves wearing their clothing.
It's unsettling.
It's intimate.
Just how I think horror should be.
I hope you enjoy this little game—I had a lot of fun making it, and I hope you have fun playing it!
