Hello Brigands!
It's been quite a journey, hasn't it? When we started work on Brinkwood back in March of last year, we had no idea that, less than a year later, we'd be at this point. Your generosity, support, and feedback is what has gotten us here today.
Where are we, exactly? Getting ready to launch a Kickstarter. Your support has given us the opportunity to polish the game, draft marketing materials, and pay our artists and consultants. Now, we want to take the next step. In order to get Brinkwood into your hands as a finished, polished, physical book, we need to pay for:
Honestly, your support has been amazing, but if we're going to take this thing over the finish line, we need to go bigger. That's why we're launching a Kickstarter, because you've convinced us there's a market for our spooky game about staking vampires in the woods. That it deserves the polish and quality a Kickstarter will make possible.
Honestly, I, Erik, feel awkward asking you for more. More money. More time. More attention. You've given us a lot, and while we've always said this was a "playtesting" kit (hence the low price point), it chafes a bit to be asked to buy the updated version of a game, once again. But this isn't just about me. It's about the editors, layout artist, and graphic designers who deserve to get paid for their work. If we want Brinkwood to be successful on ethical terms, folks need to get paid.
So, we're asking you to check out the Kickstarter, and click the flag to be reminded when it goes live. But more importantly, we're asking you to share Brinkwood. Share the game as you have it to anyone who wants it. Share your stories, your opinions, your ideas. Share what makes this project special to you. The only way we do this is with your word-of-mouth. No one knows Brinkwood better than you, and your voice is what's going to bring this game to life.
