0.2 released!
Thanks to a bunch of feedback, I've made the game significantly easier, and the points more plentiful. A special thanks goes to Tobias Eld, who will one day get his own station in the game. So far, he is the only player to beat my score. I expect that to change.
- Increased scale of the game: Keeping the controls as is, the solar system and max speed has been doubled, which makes little difference when combined - but it was an easy way to adjust the gravity simulation, and the scale seems better.
- Rebalanced gravity: The planets have more gravity relative to the sun, which fits well with the increased scale.
- Coins spawn at planets and belts now. A bunch of coins still spawn close to the sun in the beginning, so that's a good place to start grabbing!
- Fuel replenishes everywhere: If you are running low, just increase the game speed and you'll slowly refill your reservoir.
- New mechanic: Engine overheats! Now, you can't just keep on burning, but have to manage your burn. This will be the first block against going off into the empty blackness, but..
- Added gameover: When you leave the system, the game is over. There is nothing to do out there, what are you thinking?
- Fiddled with the camera zoom. I think. Maybe that was earlier. It's semi-ok now, but I'm not happy.
- New mechanic: Ship health! Bump into planets and you lose some health! Also, you can bounce off planets now, which is more fun that being slung at ridiculous speeds.
- Starting to add some juicy animations to the new mechanics. I want more.
Obviously, this changes the dynamics of the scoring completely, and I know you can get scores in the range of 200k+, which is actually pretty neat. But maybe the game is too long now? I'll tweak it as it comes..
