KARANTIIN Build 3 – "The Open World & Biggest Update So Far"
- Profanity removal - 90%
- Improved Level “The Beginning” – Expanded encounters and added more quests to enrich the early-game experience before entering the open world.
- Currency System Update – Currency is now handled separately from inventory items, freeing up inventory slots for actual gear and resources.
- Melee Hitboxes – You no longer need pinpoint aim to land a hit. Melee swings are now more forgiving, allowing you to connect blows without having the cursor directly on the enemy.
- Decreased Open World Loading Time – Optimized level streaming and asset handling to significantly reduce loading times when entering large areas.
- Melee Damage Stuns Bots – Melee hits temporarily disable enemy attacks, improving survivability in close quarters.
- Environment-to-Interior Sound Swap – Entering buildings now triggers a seamless transition from exterior ambience to interior soundscapes, making indoor spaces feel more immersive and isolated.
- Idle Horde Movement – Enemies now patrol and roam instead of remaining static, improving immersion and encounter variety.
- Headshot Balance Mechanic — headshots now deal double damage relative to enemy health instead of guaranteeing instant kills.
- Soviet Weapon Optimization – Rebalanced multiple pistols for improved handling and damage consistency. Converted the AK-74U to use SMG ammunition, enhancing its close-quarters performance and control.
- New Melee Weapon: Pan – Added a simple melee weapon to make picking up random items more useful in early gameplay.
- Fists Update – Fixed draw/hide logic so holding the key no longer loops animations endlessly. - 50%
- Grenade System Overhaul – Reworked grenade behavior for a more immersive experience. Explosions now feel more impactful, with improved VFX and feedback. Walls, props, and environmental details correctly block damage, making positioning and cover meaningful.
- NPC Trader – Added NPC traders who interact through dialogue and can provide special items based on their type, such as medical supplies, weapons, or other resources.
- Weapon Inventory Overhaul – Added detailed inventory descriptions for all weapons, now highlighting their unique features, damage, and fire rate (RPM). Each weapon in the inventory is clearer, more informative, and feels distinct at a glance.
- Minimap Added – A compact minimap is now available in the Open World, showing important characters, traders, quests, and nearby structures for faster navigation.
- Breakable Barricades – Certain doorways are now blocked by destructible barricades. Breaking them opens new paths for both the player and AI.
- Enemy Deactivator – Added a system that automatically disables enemies when the player is far away and reactivates them when approached, drastically improving performance in large open-world areas. Framerate now jumps from 59 FPS to 155 FPS in heavily populated zones.
- Open World & Buildings – After three years of development, the first playable open world is now available. Buildings are fully enterable and exist directly within the open world, without separate interior spaces or transitions.
