#Game Over #Sound #Screen Shake #Explosions #Fixes
This release adds quite a few small changes. I've changed the Game Over screen to include a simple pixel art background (I actually spent several hours on the background then deleted the big planet I had in the center because it just didn't look great). I've also added a "GAME OVER" voice to give it a bit more dramatic feel. After the voice finishes the music from the start-up of Fasteroids starts. Before when the game ended there was a simple black screen, no real indication that anything had happened other than text. The new background, voice, and music give the game a slightly better feel at the end.
The other big "feel" change is when UFO's are shot the screen now shakes slightly. Because UFOs are fewer and generally faster than asteroids I wanted to make the feeling you get when shooting them a bit more dramatic - the slight screen shake seems to do this.
I'm also pretty sure I added some UFO explosions for activities that were not in the previous release (like when the UFO crashes into an asteroid - I believe the previous release had the old behavior). When I commit things to git I don't always write all the changes I've made to the system, and my memory isn't always the best, so I'll try harder in the future to add more details to commits so I can also add the subtle changes here too!
This release also adds a couple of new working Ubuntu versions. When I released the last release I didn't release an Ubuntu version because I had issues with the binary on Ubuntu. The problem turned out to be that I was compiling for YYC instead of VM - the first release was compiled with VM. At some point I will fix this and release a YYC version. As with the last release there are 2 Ubuntu packages you can download - you only need 1:
