Yogscast Game Jam Launch

An Abundance of Death
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

After a tiring 36 hours my adventure game is complete. I intended to make a metroidvania, but time constraints held me back. It was an amazing process to make this game, and for sure the hardest part was getting the spritesheet working in Godot. That took at least 4 hours on its own. I had to make tiles from the assets by Adam Saltsman for every configuration, I ended up cheaping out and that is why there is so little tile variation. I would love to add more to this project, but I need a break...

Another problem was feature creep, early on I decided I wanted multiplayer, and after a hour of reading the docs, I decided that no I didn't understand, and forgot the idea. My favorite part was designing challenges, early on in the game, I test the ability to jump vertically and horizontally so the player gets an idea of how movement works. Getting every coin in one life is meant to be a challenge, as you die in one hit and enemies move slow while you jump high.

I look forward to seeing player response to this game, I think it turned out well, and would recommend game jams to those wanting to start to get into game developments, as I had only made HTML5 games before this. Godot is a wonderfully free engine, and I have a lot to learn before I start making the games of my dreams.
