A More Lived-In World (Build 0.9.0)

This update focuses on making the world of BitJump feel deeper, warmer, and more alive.
You’ll notice more motion, more layers, and the beginning of places that exist simply to be visited—not conquered.

What’s New

Visual Improvements

  • Far backgrounds now use multiple parallax layers, adding depth and smoother movement.

  • New mid-background rock elements help strengthen visual layering throughout stages.

  • More environmental pieces now share a consistent bezel-style look, bringing better overall cohesion. This will continue to roll out through the rest of the stages and level select areas, but currently are limited to the first and second worlds.

  • Added extra ground detail variety, including stone holes and grass tufts to break up repetition.

  • Trees now feature subtle animated textures, giving the world a gentle sense of motion instead of feeling static.

  • Waterfalls have been added as a new visual element, enhancing stage atmosphere.
These can be layered in front of the player, allowing for stronger foreground-to-background depth and more cinematic moments.

World & Gameplay Updates

  • A new non-goal “stage” type has been introduced.
    These are explorable locations that:

    • Appear on the level select like stages

    • Do not have a completion objective

    • Can represent places like towns, shops, or homes

  • Bit now has a visitable home area! 🏠

    • Bit’s home can be reached from the Level Select screen via the blue dot node.

    • The house itself isn’t enterable (yet), but the surrounding area is fully explorable.

    • The area has its own cozy music track

    • You can leave by walking off either side of the screen, or by pausing and returning to the level select.

Bug Fixes

  • Bomb placement has been corrected.
Bombs were previously constrained to a strict 9×9 grid, which could look awkward in some situations. They can now be placed freely, resulting in more natural-looking placement and better moment-to-moment gameplay.

Looking Ahead

This update is a small but important step toward making BitJump feel like a world, not just a series of levels.
More places, more personality, and more reasons to slow down and explore are on the way.

Thanks for playing — and for sticking with Bit on the journey. 💙
