I just shipped a UI & gameplay update for my browser memory game

FlipsMatch
A browser Flips Match made in HTML5

I pushed a small but meaningful update to my browser-based memory game Flips Match, mainly focused on usability, clarity, and desktop play.

Here’s what I changed:

  • Cleaner toolbar layout
  • In Open Card mode, the toolbar is now hidden to reduce distractions
  • Flip counter is hidden and no longer counted
  • Every successful match now automatically adds +3 seconds
  • Overall pacing feels much more relaxed and readable
  • Reworked desktop card grid logic
  • Fixed column growth at higher levels
  • Card sizes now adapt correctly when more columns are added, preventing overflow or cramped layouts
  • Fixed multiple layout edge cases on desktop
  • Resolved several visual glitches related to card sizing and emoji rendering

The goal of this update was to make the game feel calmer, clearer, and more consistent—especially on larger screens.
