#play test #launch #major update
The Decay Chain private play test begins as of Monday, December 15th, 2025 in the discord and available via email if you don't use discord. In the discord we will be hanging out and celebrating the launch and playing all the multiplayer game modes to stress-test to see how the game handles a bunch of players at the same time. I'm posting this early just to give everyone a heads up on where and when the play test is taking place. For more info you can always check out the site which links to the various socials and such.
We've also got a planned weekly Friday "LAN" party to try out the latest builds in discord (although this will pick up more in the new year, since the holidays are rapidly approaching and we're all going to be pretty busy).
The main goal of the play test is to identify and iron out any major bugs in the framework of Decay Chain before we begin the 2nd major development sprint to add in the main campaign. If you are a play tester, please make sure to use the "report bug" button in the main/pause menus, and attach any screen shots (F2 to take a pic) and logs as necessary so that way we can better reproduce and fix any bugs you submit.
Additional Note for play testers: Attached on this post there should be an SVG that has the default keybinds for the game. Eventually we will have rebinding keys in game but that is not yet implemented.
Decay Chain has been and will continue to be a passion project; if the game sells well, sweet! If not, we'll probably still keep working on it. That being said, all of us have our own lives and jobs to tend to, and as such updates and new content for the game is not on any guaranteed schedule. Below I'd like to list out some things you can expect when the game is "finished"(or at least in a state where we've done most everything we've set out to do):
And here are some things that are our stretch goals (i.e. things that we'd like to do if we can after everything else is done):
This game has been a huge passion project for myself and all the other devs here that are a part of Skeleton Software: Robot, Gator, & Mantis. I wanna say a huge thanks to all of you for all the work you've put in over the past two years helping to bring this tech demo to life as a real game. Without you all none of this would be remotely possible, and I am excited to see where we can take this game in the future.
