Second Impact [Chapter 1]
A browser game made in HTML5

So, many things happened since our last update. And to cut to the chase, as our protagonist would do, my ssd died and with it, the game project. As sad as this news was to the team, and my regret of having done a proper back up outside of that ssd, this does however lead us somewhere else with the game. Are we quitting? Heck no, I've never quit, and I'm not starting now. This happened around a month ago, and I took my time to find a way, a solution to it. And since Devlogs are meant to explain the process, that's what I'm doing in this one.

The original unity project is gone, and all that's left is literally these versions uploaded to itch! Which is... beyond great. I haven't tried it yet, but aparently it is posible to rescue all the assets in the game.  What little extra assets were done for the next part, we have many beta versions of them in our team discord, so that got partially saved as well.

Things like the animation transitions in Unity are also gone, and those were... uhm... they looked like this:

We've debated many times about making this game a full one, or just release chapters. And now, with a clear head, I can finally tell that that's the way to go for us. So now, this demo will be known as Chapter 1, and I'll rebuild the basics of the game for the next one.

Of course, I'm studying more about programming now, and there's a dozen things I'd like to do different this time... So it might take time, but hopefully, the next chapter will have a system all of it's own. Yay!

So for now, I thank dearly everyone who has played this game and went out of their way to let us know how much they enjoyed it. This is not a goodbye... but an Arrivederci ;)

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!
