Wow, this week just went whoosh and it was gone. There were a ton of real-life things we had to deal with and a lot of time spent on the road. German railroads… yeah, not recommending those.
Still, I managed to carve out enough time to finish writing two Magic Theory events — that feels good. Now I can say with certainty that I won’t finish even the main part of the second Trial by the end of next week, so that one will have to wait for the update after that. Unless, of course, I get struck by that once-in-a-lifetime burst of inspiration when I somehow wrote 10 k words in a single day. I’m not holding my breath, though.
On the code side, I once again dove into the dark, dusty underbelly of the game. Spurred on by my own discoveries and some very justified criticism from the programmers who kindly offered help, I spent a good chunk of time cleaning up and optimizing parts of the script. I hadn’t done a proper cleanup in ages, and it felt great — both making the code easier to maintain and finding a handful of small bugs in the process.
Shady Two didn’t have much free time either, so there’s nothing earth-shattering to report from her corner. Work on Violet’s library table and Aisling’s new outfit is still moving forward nicely, though. In the little gaps between everything else, she started working on the sketches that would one day become small animated scenes, depicting the activities that your hero goes through during his days. Here’s one where he’s studying with Violet.
Tell me it is not cute.
Another short-ish update, but that's all I've got for you this week. See you in seven days!
Shady Character One, out!
