This week, I want to talk a little more about our items and the inventory. Orphans of Caine will have several types of items and equipment in the inventory; consumables and quest items, weapons, clothes, trinkets, and gifts.
Consumables: Blood bags (feeding opportunities will also be present in the game), ingredients for thinblood alchemy, and a couple of special items for specific clans.
Quest items: Unique items necessary to complete quests or to learn extra information from certain characters.
Weapons, clothes, and trinkets: These items will provide buffs for your character. All of these items will be accessible to all clans with a few exceptions that will require specific disciplines or will only be obtainable from NPCs that will give their own clan a preferential treatment.
Buffs provided by these items will vary in strength and more powerful items will have certain requirements, such as a certain amount of strength to wield them or a trained aim to avoid ...incidents.Items in this category can be purchased, discovered through exploration, obtained from certain NPCs or taken off their corpses.
I have attached these images to show some of the items present in the game. Not all of them will make it into the demo and there will be many more in the complete game. All assets used were purchased with a license from stock websites and have been edited by me. I will tweak them more before the final release or hopefully replace them entirely with unique art if our budget allows it.
Gifts: These unique items can be given to NPCs you wish to improve your standing with. Some can be purchased at specific locations, while others might prove to be a little harder to find. Most Kindred of Milwaukee are not used to such gracious gestures these nights and it will surely leave an impression. Some might even have rewards for you, in return.
Next week, I will return to discuss and show off the character sheet, along with the masquerade and humanity systems. Thank you for following our progress and for supporting us!
