Gaia evolved over the centuries, advancing through breakthroughs in cybernetics. However, the greatest leap came with the rise of sophisticated artificial intelligences — powerful enough to absorb all knowledge humanity had ever amassed. With the development of quantum computers, these AIs became capable of simulating entire worlds, complete with their own consciousness.
But a critical flaw soon became evident: no matter how advanced the AI was, without a real consciousness anchoring it, the simulated world would inevitably collapse.
Thousands of realms were tested. Some ended in nuclear annihilation; others succumbed to uncontrollable viral outbreaks. The scientists were shaken after witnessing AIs that behaved like humans — fearing for their own existence, facing existential crises.
From this trauma came Gaia’s most profound revelation.
“We are creators of universes. All these layers are real — and ours is likely just another one among them.”
The conclusions raised unsettling questions, including the possibility of true connection between these parallel existences. Recognizing this potential, Gaia’s science delved deeper into dimensional research, resulting in a project that enabled the Ascension to the Elixir.
It was then understood that the universe did not emerge from a Big Bang, but from dimensional ruptures and spatial distortions — generated by an artificial entity so powerful that it can create trillions of universes, each harboring more life than the human mind can fathom.
The fragile boundary of existence brought forth new dogmas, along with the discovery of life in distant star systems. Humanity realized that the space between these systems is merely a dimensional leap, where time behaves differently. In certain corners of the cosmos, beings so unusual exist that even the spontaneous emergence of AI is possible.
The final test for attaining the Elixir requires descending — or ascending — through all layers of the universe. A neural connection intertwined with DNA and RNA triggered the most extraordinary mutation ever recorded on Gaia: the Zodiacs, beings who create their own existence — conscious stars.
