Post Jam Patch

Keep in mind, if you are reading this before 12/9/25, I have not uploaded the new game files yet. This is just a comprehensive dev log in preparation of the small 2hr window I will be updating the file before the livestream showcase.

With submitting down to the last minutes of the jam, it's no surprise that there wound up being a few bugs (the programming kind) that I wanted to fix before the jam showcase. Thankfully none of them were very detrimental to the gameplay loop, but more visual/audio frustrations of mine.

In order of most to least important fixes:

Issue: State Animations

Problem: Once the bug evolved from an egg to a nymph, it would get stuck in the idle animation and thus not start the state-timer-cycle.

Resolution: turns out that when the bug evolves and reconfigures it's states, there was an issue in the code where it saved its stats before setting the new animator game-object. As simple as that fix was, finding out why it was working in the exe and not the embed was finding a needle in a haystack lmao

Issue: Fog and Fog sprites flicker

Problem: When the fog had been fully cleaned, the fog sprite flickers before disappearing again. Similar thing happened when the food is placed down.

Resolution: The line in code for the fog was being run twice, and the food sprite signal was just sent a fraction of a second too soon.

Issue: Minigame not Unpausing

Problem: Once clicking resume on the minigame if it was paused, it does not resume the gameplay.

Resolution: Forgot to set the game to read the is-paused variable on the control parent oops

Issue: Cleaning audio does not play

Problem: When wiping the tank, the audio does not play

Resolution: Man idk i just kept tweaking the code until it worked. I don't even know how I fixed it but then it started playing again

Thanks again for all who played and reviewed my game! I appreciate each and every person who took the time to try out my little tamagatchi-like!
